From Netherlands to the UK and our own homegrown sound, uncharted territories of music are gaining traction on the dancefloor. We're starting February strong with an exciting lineup you wouldn't want to miss.
upsammy crafts a distinctly unique and paradoxical musical experience, with a sound that blends shimmering electronics and intricate rhythm. Drawing from a range of influences including experimental DnB and offbeat techno, her sonic palette is defined by its adventurous approach and refusal to conform to genre boundaries. A DJ of rising renown, she's made waves as an NTS Radio resident and at Amsterdam's Garage Noord, gaining invitations to high-profile festivals like Unsound and Rewire.
FAUZIA started off as a DJ, blending footwork and jungle influences, and gained recognition with her monthly NTS show. Her original production took off in 2020, with celebrated mixes for DISCWOMAN and HAUS of ALTR. Released during the pandemic, tracks like "Fragments" and collaborations with Kelela and George Riley showcased her evolving sound. Her style moves beyond familiar club contexts, but you can always count on her to be ready.
Opening the night, Maria Antoaneta is a DJ who emerged in Bucharest’s underground starting 2017, favouring a diverse range of genres and styles — from techno to psytrance — never holding back on new sources of inspiration that feel close to her heart. Equally diverse, the closing belongs to djfacmuzică, whose diverse picks always tap on the unexpected, favouring leftfield sounds, footworks, breaks and broken beats.
Leftfield music maker and Bucharest local djfacmuzica antagonistically stretches, rewinds, and distorts samples, rescripting breaks and sound into agitational blips of speed and slowness. Known for sets that are always changing, tunneling in between footwork, bass, jungle, idm, brazilian funk and breaky music. He has released tracks on mindcolormusic and want? records and is a part of the aim+wall trio, which brings combustible synthetic rhythms to Bucharest’s dancefloors and airwaves.
In Room 2, two exciting names are joining the already massive lineup. Breakfake and Felixculpah will be bringing the heavy guns, along with Eusebio Digital and Călin.
Straight outta Leeds, Breakfake is down to some serious business. His jam is all about fresh fire, exclusive dubplates — tunes that move the dancefloor in no time. Deeply rooted in sound system culture, and with a powerful message at heart, his set is guaranteed to get the adrenaline flowing.
Felixculpah is a Manchester-based DJ pushing underground sounds forward and beyond. Her sets feature a groovy mix of Garage and Dubstep with a flavor of Breaks, always dynamic, always bass heavy.
