ORKID is releasing their new single, Urlă ca marea (“Roar Like the Sea”), in a special event alongside a very new and very special band from Cluj, ROTKO (art rock/indie/electronica), who will be performing their first-ever show in Bucharest.
The concert is part of the STRAY LIGHTS SESSIONS series, marking the relaunch of the DIY indie/alternative music platform that also includes acts such as Cardinal, Denis, Getchoo, Plant, Brainwasher, Asincron, Taxawall, Second Wave, Zammorian, Mock Surprise, Air Lines, Midpoint, and Coridor Apartament. The STRAY LIGHTS concert series will take place at Control twice a month, starting in November.
ORKID, the Bucharest-based trio, defines their style as angry shoegaze / post-traumatic blues.
Drawing from a wide range of influences — from punk and garage to post-metal, from indie and blues to math rock, prog, or even classical music — Orkid has so far released five studio albums: Standing Still in the Dark (2016), Suruaika (2018), Deraiat (2020), In the Light We Are Safe (2022), and Noi contra Noi (2023), the last three produced by Adrian Despot and Sorin “Pupe” Tănase.
Their new single, Urlă ca marea, marks the renewal (after almost a decade) of their collaboration with Andrei Robin Proca (Robin and the Backstabbers), producer of Orkid’s debut album.
The track unveils a fresh sound — minimalist yet forceful — evoking a latent emotion whose raw power destroys everything in its path once it surfaces. Like a raging sea, like a wild beast.
ROTKO is an art-rock/alternative/electronic band from Cluj-Napoca, founded in 2025. Their music is defined by modular synths, drum machines, and distortion-driven guitar, creating a unique style with a melancholic, eerie vibe and introspective lyrics.
